If you only read the site

No account, no cookies, no advertising. Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics: a small script from Cloudflare reports which page was opened, how fast it loaded, and the country and kind of browser it came from. It sets no cookies, keeps no address that identifies you, and doesn't follow you to other sites. Your browser keeps a short note for this site alone (the shaders you have opened, where you stopped in a video), which never leaves your device; the About page can forget it.

If you make an account

Ray Kiln stores:

Signing in sets two cookies on raykiln.dev: one that keeps you signed in, which scripts can't read, and one that only says you are signed in, so the pages know to show your favourites. Neither is used for anything else. Sign-in codes, and the new-episode emails if you ask for them, are sent from signin@raykiln.dev; every one of those has a link that stops them.

Your email address is never shown to anyone or shared. Your handle and what you share publicly are public.

Payments

Ray Kiln Plus is sold by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle collects your payment details, billing address and tax information, and handles them under its own privacy notice. Paddle tells us that you bought Plus, and if it was refunded; we never receive your payment details. Paddle’s checkout opens only on the purchase page, the one page that loads it, in its own frame, and may use its own storage there.

Who handles it

The site, its database, its files and its email run on Cloudflare, which processes them to provide that service. The sign-in form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Payments for Ray Kiln Plus are handled by Paddle, as above. Nothing is sold, and nothing is given to anyone else unless the law requires it. Cloudflare and Paddle may process data in countries other than yours, relying on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Keeping and deleting

Sign-in codes are deleted a day after they expire, and sessions when they end. Everything else stays until you delete it. Deleted data can stay in the site's private backups for up to 90 days, then it is gone from those too. From your account page you can download everything stored about you as a file, sign out everywhere, and delete your account, which removes all of it, your shared shaders and their files included (and ends Ray Kiln Plus on it; that isn't a refund). Paddle keeps its records of payments as tax and accounting law requires.
